Unique Medical Transportation Services (UMTS) is a for-profit company proudly serving the local and long-distance transportation needs throughout Worcester County and prescheduled appointments beyond.
UMTS was founded by an experienced professional, Ben Quao. Originally from Ghana, Ben migrated to the United States in 2002. In working as a drug addiction counselor and in serving many within the disabled community, Ben witnessed firsthand the increasing need for support services for area seniors and those with mobility challenges.
In working with and coordinating with area hospitals, medical groups, and an untold number of patients, Ben was inspired to create a more timely and cost-effective assisted transportation solution. Unlike other services operating as a curb-to-curb service, UMTS is committed to safely escorting you or your loved one from residence or facility to a clean, comfortable, and modern wheelchair accessible vehicle. On arrival at your destination, our trained staff will escort your check-in.
Rather than focusing exclusively on volume and profits, UMTS is keenly focused on providing exceptional and timely customer service with the compassion you and your loved ones deserve.

We are continuously striving to implement effective strategies for enhanced training, integrated technologies, and managerial support and communication. Because we provide local and long distance transportation, effective planning and communication between dispatch and key facilities is paramount.
We continuously work on enhancing our scheduling and traffic management in an effort to reduce travel and wait times while increasing efficiency. We work to adapt and implement policies and procedures to support our mission, to analyze and advise on transportation issues, evaluate scheduling conflicts, negotiate and correspond with carriers, vendors, and strategic partners.
Dispatchers will receive extensive instruction on using our technological integration systems designed to support our growing scheduling and logistical demands. Dispatchers are responsible for the following:
- Customer intake
- Preparation of daily schedules and trip manifests
- Effective driver management and scheduling
- Trip management and oversight
- Coordination with facility personnel
